Ante Bellum de Meus Sanitas: Part I (2018)
Formed from the seedling of a childhood idea, Ante Bellum de Meus Sanitas, Latin for “the war for my sanity”, explores effects of the subconscious through experimental editing and photography techniques.
The videos below were created during Skye’s time as a US Navy service member.
This short was filmed and photographed at Charm City in DC during an Intermediate Photojournalism Course. The aim was to highlight the park, the skaters, and to see what all this gear can do. (Filmed and edited in 2014)
“Fare Chance at Life” features Tim Lays, the owner of Tim’s Taxi Service based near Fort Meade, MD, conveying the history and motivation of Tim through the use of photography and video.
“Navy Family” is a multimedia piece composed of interviews, photos, and video of the Navy’s Mass Communication Specialists in training (photojournalists) and their new life living in a new and diverse setting.
“Modern Artisan” is a secondary story-telling piece that features master sensei and founder of the Chin Culture Center in Maryland and her journey in the art of kimekomi doll-making.
“Love for Country” highlights the connection a military family made while living in a foreign land. I followed the Chin family and learned the backstory to why they have an undying love for Japan.
